Obituary

CHICOPEE ~ Clark S. “C.J.” Jarrett IV, 70, a longtime resident of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, May 11, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born Los Angeles, California on May 26, 1948, a beloved son of the late Clark S. Jarrett III and Therese (Bouchard) Jarrett. He was raised all across the country as his father served in the United States Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant before their family settled in Chicopee around 1965. C.J. graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and lived in Chicopee the remainder of his life. Following his father’s footsteps in the military, Clark served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force, attained the rank of Airman and served as an Apprentice Fire Protection Specialist and received the National Defense Service Medal. He worked for 26 years as an engineer for the Westover Fire Department at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee and retired in 1998. He previously worked as the manager at the former Abdow's Big Boy Restaurant on Memorial Drive in Chicopee where he met his beloved wife, Christine, who was a waitress there. During his leisure time, C.J. enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at their camp in Heath, MA but most especially loved his quiet time being at home. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Christine M. “Chris” (Wenzel) Jarrett who was Called Home on August 30, 2008. They were married at Saint Paul Episcopal Church in Holyoke on September 2, 1972 and were blessed with over 35 years of happiness together. He leaves his two loving children, Miranda K. Moore and Andrew C. Jarrett, both of Chicopee; his brother, Mark Jarrett of Chicopee; his sister, Renée Chapman of Redlands, CA; his dear brother-in-law, Donald Bullard of Taunton; his two dear sisters-in-law, Joan Fauteux and her husband, Gary, of Ware and Eileen Dionne and her husband, Raymond, of Sugar Hill, NH; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Jarrett and Wenzel families. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his dear sister-in-law, Kathleen “Kathy” Bullard who was Called Home on May 4, 2019. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by a 6:30 p.m. Celebration of Life Service at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 4 p.m.). The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
