CHICOPEE – Christine T. “Chris” “Memere” (Riberdy) Butler, 66, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, May 10, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on September 1, 1952, a beloved daughter of the late Edgar J. B. Riberdy and Rena A. (Comeau) Riberdy. She was raised on Grattan Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, graduated in 1970 from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. She was employed for many years at Dielectrics in Chicopee. Chris was an avid bingo player and enjoyed meeting her friends for the weekly bingo games at the Moose Club in Chicopee and the Polish American Citizens Club in Ludlow. She also enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Wayne, on their yearly Royal Caribbean Cruises. During her leisure time, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Most of all, she was a loving homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend of over 48 years, Wayne E. Butler; her three loving children, Edgar R. Butler and his wife, Donna, Suzanne J. Reidy and her husband, Joseph and Wayne E. Butler II, and his wife, Crystal, all of Chicopee; her eight cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth and triplets, Allyson, Ryan and George; Hannah and Lindsay; and Skylee and Sabastian; her dear brother, Edgar “Chick” Riberdy and his wife, Joanne, of Columbia, SC and William Riberdy and his wife, Diane, of Chesapeake, VA; her dear mother-in-law, Pauline (Proulx) Dupre of Chicopee; her dear sisters-in-law, Paulette Burgen of Belchertown; and Debbie Szumski, and her husband, John, of Florida; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Butler and Riberdy families. She will also be dearly missed by her faithful dog, Teddy. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafeyette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private.
