Vera Melissa McMillan Brogdon, 97, of Tifton passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Cypress Pond Assisted Living in Tifton. A Celebration of Life will be held for Mrs. Brogdon at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals, located at 420 Love Avenue, in Tifton from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Friday May 24, 2019.
Mrs. Brogdon was born in 1921 to Elizabeth Rachael Robinson McMillan and Jacob Boyd McMillan and grew up on a farm outside of Enigma, Berrien County. She was married to James Edison Brogdon of Alapaha for 74 years, and who preceded her in death in 2015. She raised three children; James Edward Brogdon of Lenox, Mary Beth Brogdon Egan of Macon and Stephen Eddie Brogdon of Gainesville, Florida; and is also survived by three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Vera resided in Gainesville, Florida after WWII for 64 years, and was devoted to all her family and had many talents. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, decorator, and gardener, and was active in her church, Women’s Club, Bridge Club, and Square dance club for many years.
