Pauline M. Berube, 92, of Salem, passed away peacefully with her extended family by her side at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Sunday, May 5, 2019. Pauline had suffered a fall, at home, on the 26th of April.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Celina (Tremblay) Berube. Pauline worked as an administrative assistant in the Salem New England Telephone Company office and later transferred to the Boston office. She retired from Verizon in 1983 with 43 years between the combined companies.
Pauline was a caregiver who loved life and who was devoted to her church and family. Although never a mother, she possessed all the best qualities of motherhood and took delight in caring for the many children in her large extended family. A lifelong member of Ste. Anne Parish, she was a member of the League of Catholic Women, a Eucharistic Minister and was active in the annual Christmas Fair. Her passion was her family and knitting for those she knew and even those she didn’t know. She enjoyed traveling, skiing and generally having fun. Her smile and cheerful manner will be missed by the many people she touched.
She is survived by her sister, Geraldine ‘Gerry’ M. Richard and her husband Gilbert of Groveland, her three nephews, Paul Richard and wife Melissa and their children Jared & Jillian of Amesbury, Brian Richard and wife Susan and their children Jack & Ty of W Newbury, and Mark Richard of Groveland, her cousin and best friend Albert “Sonny” Bedard of Salem, as well as many other cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem for a visitation on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM to be followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
