BUXTON- Elba Stutes passed away unexpectedly on May 5th, 2019 in her home in Buxton, Me. She was born on January 18th, 1967 to Hilda Castro-Melendez (deceased) and Sotero Castro- Soto at Lincoln Hospital in Bronx, New York.
Elba graduated high school from St. Nicholas of Tolentine in the Bronx. She loved to spend her days roller skating, listening to music, dancing any chance she could, and finding the best break dancers in the city.
She is predeceased by her beloved mother Hilda Castro- Melendez and her favorite uncle “Tio Rafy”, Rafael Melendez.
She is survived by her ever devoted husband Danny Stutes. Her father Sotero Castro – Soto. Her sister Aurea Vega. Her brother Edwin Lopez. Her 3 children Elizabeth Stutes, Joshua Stutes and Samantha Stutes, her grandchildren Gabriella Kennie, Logan Lassu, Selena Lassu and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Elba was fiercely devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren, the only devotion that could match that was the unconditional love she had for her children. She had a kind, loving heart and did all that she could to help the people she loved. But don’t take her kindness for weakness, she also was a protective tough mama bear, don’t mess with her kids or her Pepsi.
Despite having lived in Maine for many years she loved and passionately cheered on her Bronx Bombers (New York Yankees). The balance perhaps, came from cheering on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots during the football season.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, from 5 – 6 PM, followed by a 6 PM funeral service at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elba’s name to Crossroads, 71 US Route 1, Suite E, Scarborough, Me 04074
