Obituary

Flore B. Duguay, wife, mother, matriarch, grandmother and great grandmother left the comfort, love and devotion of her family and was guided home by a legion of angels on May 3, 2019. Her life of faith and prayer securing her a place in both heaven and God's grace. Standing at the front of the line to greet his beautiful wife is her beloved husband Joseph Herve Duguay.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, she was one of four children and a loving daughter of the late Alpha and Dorilla (Dubois) Dufresne.

Following her years of schooling, she married and embarked on a career within the education department of the Providence School system. Her joy of working with children and elevating educational standards was only interrupted to begin and nurture her own family. Devotion to God and love of family were the lessons of the day. With her growing family in school, Flore was again drawn to the school system this time leading the administrative office of George J. West Jr. High School until her retirement.

Always the loving and devoted mother, Flore found herself in the position to expand her "family" in her later years as she became the "mother of the staff" at Smithfield Woods Assisted Living in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Flore's unwavering faith and gentle soul made her room a frequent stop for many of the kind, dedicated and loving staff. Never a day passed where she didn't feel the warmth of a hug or the love of a kiss.

Flore was a voracious reader and lover of word games and puzzles. When macular degeneration robbed her of her sight, she turned to teaching us all the lessons learned over her amazing life. Throughout it all, God was her center. Regardless of all her frailties and limitations, never was her faith shaken. By far, she was the Number One fan of EWTN. Supporting this amazing organization honors Flore.

She is survived by her loving and grateful family: her son George Duguay of North Providence; her daughter Jeanne Vasconcellos and her husband Michael Crepeau of North Smithfield; her daughter Janet Scorpio and her husband Anthony of Chepachet. Flore's life was also filled with the love and joy of eight grand children and eight great grand children. In addition to her husband , mother and father, her welcoming party in heaven includes her daughter Julie Smith and her husband Norman and her beloved siblings Irene Rondeau, Donald Dufresne, Rudolph Dufresne and his loving wife Lydia.

Our family is devastated by the loss of this amazing woman but buoyed and inspired by the examples she left for us to follow: be kind, be thoughtful, be funny, be generous, be loving, be compassionate, seek solace in prayer and be forever grateful for every second shared with loved ones.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday May 8 at 9:30 am at Saint Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville RI. Burial will follow at the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter RI. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 8-9 in the Anderson Winfield Home. In lieu of flowers, consider honoring Flore and her faith with a donation to EWTN, The Eternal Word Television Network, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, Al 35210 or online at Eternal World Television
