New Bedford - Rosemary Claire (Devine) Sharland, at the age of 81 from New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, MA with family by her side. She was born in Boston, MA to the late Walter S. and Margaret A. (Fitzpatrick) Devine. Rosemary was 1 of 10 children; Pauline, Edward, Marilyn, Walter, Peggy, William, Evelyn, Robert and Jean.
Rosemary was married for 18 years to George T. Sharland and worked as a personal care assistant for many years until her retirement.
While married, she had 5 children, one girl and four boys. Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Barbara A. (Sharland) Bergeron and her husband Steven with 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren from Acushnet, and sons; Daniel T. (Sharland) Dax, John E Sharland and his wife Colleen with 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren from Clinton, Thomas B. Sharland with 1 grandchild from New Bedford and Glenn S. Sharland and Melissa Root with 4 grandchildren from Lakeville. In total, Rosemary is survived by 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Calling hours for Rosemary will be held at Perry Funeral Home in New Bedford, MA on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM with words from Pastor, Dale Weathers starting at 6:30 P.M. She will be buried on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Milton Cemetery in Milton, MA located at 211 Centre Street, Milton, MA 02186. Please note that the family respectfully asks everyone with the exception of the immediate family to please meet directly at the cemetery between 11:15-11:30 A.M.
