On May 2, 2019, RICHARD J. SCIACCA SR., passed away after a short illness surrounded by his loving family. Richard graduated from Lawrence High School and continued onto Haverhill Technical School where he learned his skills as an auto mechanic. Richard worked as an auto mechanic alongside his father, Joseph (Bing) at Tremont Auto in Lawrence for many years. Richard continued his career at Raytheon as a large engine repair technician until his retirement.
Richard was an avid tennis player and golfer. He was active in all his children’s sport activities and was the past president of the Lawrence Youth Hockey League. In his youth, he was a member of the Lawrence Pontiac Drum & Bugle Corp where he played the bass drum. Richard was gifted in music, song and art. He participated in singing and art competitions, and won many awards. He passed these gifts onto his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who inherited his talents and for that we are all grateful.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline (Soucy) Sciacca, and his children, Susan Mangano, Patricia Crafts and husband Alfred, Richard J. Sciacca Jr., and his wife Kim, Mark Sciacca and his wife Laura, Tina Sargent, and her husband Dan, and Tony Pelletier. Richard leaves twelve grandchildren, Kendra, Alyssa, Kayla, Evan, Alexa, Isabella, Jenna, Drew, Jacob, Hayley, Emily and Alex. Richard also is survived by two great grandchildren, Landon, and Tanner. Richard also leaves his brother Joseph H. Sciacca and niece, Diane Spinale. He is predeceased by his parents, Mildred (Batcha) and Joseph H. Sciacca Sr., as well as his son in-law, Kenneth Mangano.
A celebration of life will be scheduled in June. The Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium is assisting the family with arrangements
