SPRINGFIELD ~ Patricia A. “Patti” (Oswald) Olsson, 65, of the Forest Park section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, May 2, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on April 30, 1954, a beloved daughter of the late Paul F. Oswald, Jr. and Barbara A. (O’Neil) Oswald. Patti was born in Springfield, raised in East Longmeadow where she graduated from East Longmeadow High School and had been a resident of Springfield since the 1980’s. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed spending time tending to her garden at her beloved home. She was previously a waitress at the former Monte Carlo Restaurant in West Springfield and was last employed as a dispatcher for the Longmeadow Police Department. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Richard V. “Rick” Olsson. They were married on April 22, 1989 at the former Saint Mary Church in East Springfield and were blessed with just over 30 years of happiness together. She also leaves her six loving children, Michael Jewett and his wife, Jenny, Erin Monte and her husband, Lee, Joan Jewett, Meagan Schipper, Eric-Paul Olsson and Evan Olsson; her seven cherished grandchildren, Ian and Reagan Jewett, Austin and Emilee Monte and Zackary, Cody and Ayden Schipper; her two sisters, Joan Merlo and her husband, Gary, and Debbie Fredette and her husband, Bob; her two sisters-in-law, Mary Stepanian and Jan-Marie May and her husband, Michael; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Olsson and Oswald families. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Paul Oswald. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. which will be followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
