John G. Cossette, age 85 of Carver, MA passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 2nd, 2019.
He was born in Boston on 11/10/1933 and raised in Quincy. He graduated Sacred Heart High School in Weymouth.
Son of the late Jean and Germaine (Perault) Cossette of Rockland, MA. Brother of the late Mark and Joseph Cossette.
He was a carpenter by trade in the family business and worked with Cazeault Roofing prior to his retirement.
He served in the United States Air Force in the 1950's where he was stationed in England.
His hobbies included painting, wood projects, playing cards and especially darts.
He is survived by his six children: Paula Allen and her husband Ralph of Abington; Jean Cossette and his wife Grace of Wilson, NC; Christine Cossette Metzger of Virginia Beach, VA; Christopher Cossette and his spouse David Lewis of Dayville, CT; Carole Cossette Dick and her husband David of E. Bridgewater; and Theresa Cossette Salvas of Plymouth, MA. He leaves thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and five nieces. He also leaves his loving companion of sixteen years Erleen Almeida of Carver, MA. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Pita, who never left his bedside during his illness.
Visiting hours are Tuesday, May 7th from 4-7p.m. with a 7:00p.m. service immediately following at Blanchard Funeral Chapel on Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will be private.
