Joann F. Nimmons, 67, of Woonsocket died Tuesday April 30, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
Born in Providence she was a daughter of the late Raymond B. and Edna (Bonneville) DeCorpo. She was raised in Cranston, lived in numerous places in the greater Providence area and resided in Woonsocket for a number of years.
Joann was employed at American Jewelry Chain Company in Providence for many years before retiring.
A self-proclaimed “Bingo Nut” Joann thoroughly enjoyed honing her skills at her preferred game of chance: BINGO - you got it!
To say that Joann was outgoing and friendly person is an understatement. A lady with a huge personality and an even bigger heart Joann was the “Mayor of Bernon” apartment community. She knew the comings and goings of everyone in “her building”. Joann had an open door policy for her neighbors and friends alike. Anyone and everyone in need of anything need look no further than Joann, she embodied the words “seek and ye shall find”. No one in Joann’s sphere in influence was ever alone for a holiday as there was room enough at her table for everyone, especially those who otherwise would have been alone. They would be treated to Joann’s fabulous cooking and fun loving company.
Joann loved being with her family and had a blast being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
Joann is survived by a son Danny R. Mullen and his wife and a daughter Mellisa Mullen and her husband. She was the sister of Raymond DeCorpo of Norfolk VA and the late Priscilla Sprouse. She is also survived her four grandchildren Michael Bender, Tina Santagata, Stephanie Bender and Thomas Bender, many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families.
