Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Shirley J. (O’Connell) Orsula, age 69, a resident of Tewksbury for 66 years, died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at her home.
She was the wife of Jan Orsula, with whom she would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on May 14, 2006.
Born in Lowell on June 14, 1936, she was the daughter of the late George and Gladys (Nelson) O’Connell.
Mrs. Orsula was raised in Tewksbury.
She attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1954.
Mrs. Orsula was an active member of the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and served on the selection committee.
In addition, Mrs. Orsula was a member of the Tewksbury Interfaith Choir, the Tewksbury Golden Age Club and Senior Drop-In-Center.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 10 years as an administrative assistant at the Concord Field Station for Harvard University.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, cross stitch embroidery, traveling and spending the winter months in Winter Haven, FL.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter; Marianne B. Matulewicz and her husband Steven of Milford; three sons; Stephen J. Orsula and his wife Lynda (Kling) of Dracut, George W. Orsula and his wife Pam (Turci) of Harvard and Peter J. Orsula and his wife Nancy (Halloran) of Tewksbury; four grandchildren; Thomas and Kevin Orsula both of Dracut, Eric and Alex Orsula both of Tewksbury; one sister; Barbara (O’Connell) Hinckley and her husband David of Tewksbury; her maternal aunt; Eleanor Bruce of New Jersey; one niece; Laura McCoy of Oregon; two nephews; James McCoy of Chile and John McCoy of Oregon; also many special cousins and friends.
Calling hours Sunday, January 8th from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. (G.A.C. Service @ 2:30 p.m.) at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services Monday, January 9th at 10 a.m., at the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, cor. of Main & South St., Tewksbury. Interment was at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Lowell General Hospital Cancer Ctr., c/o Development Office, 295 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854 are requested.
