Burlington, MA - Eloise Grace Smith, R.N., age 94, a former longtime resident of Burlington, died peacefully Monday night, April 29, at Sunny Acres Nursing Care Center in Chelmsford, where she had been in residence for several years.
She was born in Mansfield, MA, on December 6, 1924, one of four children of the late Manuel and Fannie (Russell) Smith, educated in Mansfield, graduated from Mansfield High School, earned her certification for Registered Nurse after graduating from Wheaton College with a B.S.N. She later earned a Masters in Social Work from Simmons College.
She worked her entire career in the Veteran’s Administration and the Commonwealth of Mass medical systems as a Nurse and Social Worker.
She was predeceased by her brothers and sister, Austin Smith, Edrick Smith Sr., and Hildegard White; nephew Edrick Smith Jr.; niece Grace Brashear; niece Sheila Smith and leaves nieces and nephews, Charles Smith of Corpus Christie TX, Judith Barthakur of Litchfield, NH, Karen Landry of Winterhaven, FL, Jacqueline Perkins of Big Lake Township, ME, Pauline Martin of Stockton Springs, ME, her primary care-giver and niece Mary Ellen Gourdeau of Hudson, NH; and many grand nieces and grandnephews.
