Rosander, Henry F. “Red” of Lyman, Maine formerly of Woburn, April 27, 2019. Beloved husband of Catherine M. (Venuti) Rosander. Devoted father of Carol Hanlon and her husband Bart of Harvard, Paula Rosander of Wells, ME, Michael Rosander and his wife Denise of Warner, NH, and Eric Rosander of Sanford, ME. Loving grandfather of Alison and Clayton Hanlon, Eric Jr., Chad, Ryan, and Cody Rosander. Brother of the late Carl “Teddy” Rosander and Alice Bennett. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Red was the son of the late Carl T. Rosander, Sr. and Anna (Young) Rosander and grew up and raised a family in Woburn; he was especially proud to be from the Rag Rock area of the City. He graduated from Woburn High School with the Class of 1953 and then entered the US Air Force and honorably served as a radar operator stationed in Labrador, New Foundland during the Korean War.
He worked for the Woburn Public Schools and retired after a 35 year career. Red and Cathy built a home in the Moody Point area of Wells, Maine and lived there 18 years before moving to Lyman, Maine. In retirement, he enjoyed many friendships with others who retired to Wells as well as many locals. His love for life, his wonderful ability to recount a story or tell a joke, and his fighting spirit and optimism will be so very much missed by his family.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, May 2nd from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
