Betty Jean Scarberry, 74, of Tifton passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019, at her residence. A private service and burial will be held for Mrs. Scarberry at a later date.
Born May 21, 1944 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Mrs. Scarberry was the daughter of Mae Shelton McCrackin Cheshire of Tifton and the late William Guy McCrackin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edward Scarberry; and one brother, Marvin McCrackin. She retired from Shaw Industries, where she worked as a spinner and she was of the Baptist faith. She was a great mother and served as mother to many. She loved to read and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Scarberry is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy Joe and Jody Scarberry of Tifton and James Edward and Pam Scarberry of Omega; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kay and Michael Griffin of Enigma, Debbie Webb of Thomasville and Barbara Jean and Joe Mowbray of Tifton; one brother, Lewis McCrackin of Texas; four sisters, Louise Lamee of Jacksonville, Florida, Rosa Etheredge of Mississippi, Gloria Collier of Texas and Sandra Gail Mishue of Alabama; twelve grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
