Frederick "Papa" Joseph Connors, 89, of Salem, New Hampshire, formerly of Andover, Massachusetts, died April 22, 2019, at High Pointe Hospice House, Haverhill, Massachusetts. He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Frederick F. and Elizabeth Connors.
Frederick graduated from Lawrence High School, where he was a member of the football and baseball teams.
He was the founder, owner, and president of Orth Tec Corporation. He retired in 2009, after passing the company to his sons, John and Fred. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Barbara A. (Lamond) Connors. Frederick was a fan of thoroughbred horse racing, the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. After his wife died, Frederick became an avid long distance runner. He ran numerous local road races and marathons, including the 1995 Memphis Marathon, where he placed first in the Senior Masters category, and the 100th Boston Marathon in 1996.
Frederick is survived by his daughter, Maureen (Connors) Potter of Asheville, NC; sons, John W. Connors and his wife, Linda of Windham, NH, Frederick J. Connors Jr. and his wife, Beth of Salem, NH, Thomas Connors and his wife, Cheryl of Windham, NH, sisters, Elizabeth Daniel and Barbara Connors, both of Salem, NH, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving companion of the past thirty years, Rosemary Carney of Salisbury, MA, her six surviving children, 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Friday, April 26, 2019, from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, MA 01810. Funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home, following the calling hours, at 1 PM. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 124 Abbot Street, Andover, MA 01810.
