John J. Buckley, 57, of Westport passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at home. Born in Fall River, son of David L. Buckley, Jr. and Louise A. Buckley of Westport, he was a lifelong resident of Westport.
Mr. Buckley was an electrician at the Naval War College in Newport, RI and worked as a civilian contractor in Afghanistan and Iraq from 2008-2012. A veteran of Operation Desert Storm/Shield, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a Marine Reservist for over 20 years. He was an avid fan of the New England sports teams.
Including his parents, survivors include 2 brothers: David L. Buckley III and his wife Mary of Westport and Robert A. Buckley and his wife Maureen of Falmouth; a sister: Wendy L. Buckley of Watertown; 5 nieces and nephews: David L. Buckley IV and his wife Heidi, Sarah Desmarais and her husband Adam, Ryan Buckley and his wife Laura, Timothy Buckley and his wife Britanny and Brianna O'Driscoll and her husband John; and 5 great nieces and nephews: Flynn Buckley, Weston Buckley, Adelynn Desmarais, Hannah Desmarais and Emmet O'Driscoll.
Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, April 26, 2019 from 5-8 PM at the Potter Funeral Home.
At the family's request, funeral services will be private.
