Thomas M. Dolfi, 63, passed away at theLahey Clinic Medical Center on Thursday. A life long Medford resident, he was the son of the late Corradino and Barbara (Ridge) Dolfi.
Tommy Dolfi
Tommy, still with the caterpillar eyebrow, the tunnel between his two front teeth, the ear to ear grin and the twinkle in his eye. He was like a bobbit toy. He would take a hit and just come right back up, with that grin, still intact.
He wanted a great life and he worked hard to get it. He also wanted other people to have great lives as well and he did whatever he could to make that happen. He worked for the City of Medford for about 25 years, while he also combined his great love of family, friends and animals with a side business providing pony parties to kids birthday parties. The business became so successful that he had to get more pony trailers and more help in order to keep up with the party appearances. He also donated the ponies for many charitable events.
He loved parties and celebrations and would always show up with the best food to be had. People came to him all the time for help with all kinds of things because he knew so many people, he always seemed to be able to help. He watched out for us all in his own particular way.
When he was recently in the ICU, he received a card from a friend who wrote the following:
“Tommy, what can I say. I don’t want to get mushy because I know You would make fun of me, but it’s true, the store isn’t the same without you!! Chris and his family keep you in their prayers. Tommy, keep fighting. I love you Big Guy. Things just aren’t as much fun when you’re not around to share them with. I really miss you, your friend, John.”
I think John captured how much Tommy means to so many people perfectly and what a terrible loss is left with his passing. Fortunately, there is no loss of funny and heartwarming memories of him. He made sure that there’s plenty for everyone, just like there was at all the gatherings he attended.
