TEWKSBURY: Warren Philip Austin, age 90, a resident of Tewksbury for 45 years, died Monday, January 2, 2006 at the D’Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell.
He was the husband of Florence G. (Chase) Austin, with whom he celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on September 5, 2005.
Born in Lowell on November 3, 1915, he was the son of the late Philip A. and Jane (Wilson) Austin.
Mr. Austin was raised in Lowell.
He attended Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School in 1934.
Following graduation, he worked as a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Mr. Austin previously attended the Elliot Presbyterian Church of Lowell.
Prior to his retirement in 1969, he was employed as a plastic technician by the Raytheon Corporation of Lowell, where he worked for 15 years. Mr. Austin previously worked for the Boott Mills in Lowell.
He enjoyed vegetable gardening and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter; Gail R. Austin of Tewksbury; two sons; Warren P. Austin, Jr. and his wife Mary Jo of Laconia, NH and David L. Austin and his wife Linda of Tewksbury; one sister; Dorothy Ducharme of Tewksbury; five grandchildren; David K. Austin and his wife Suzanne of Gilford, NH, John R. Austin and his wife Caitlin Osborne of State College, PA, Laura A. Trendel and her husband Greg of Sutton, MA, Randall L. Austin of Waltham, and Scott D. Austin and his wife Michelle of Chelmsford; 6 great grandchildren; Robin Austin, Katherine Austin, Nicholas Austin, J. Patrick Osborne, Marin Trendel and Jake Austin; also many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Austin was the brother of the late Elliot Austin and Lillian Stanulonis.
Calling hours Friday, January 6th from 7-9 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral service Saturday, January 7th at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the D’Youville Foundation, 981 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854 are requested.
