Robert J. Rigby, age 88, of Fall River, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River. He was the beloved husband of Irene A. (Arruda) Rigby.
Born in Fall River, MA on June 9, 1930, he was a loving son of the late Raymond and Florence (Turner) Rigby.
Bob grew up in Fall River and was a graduate of Durfee High School. During the Korean Conflict, he proudly served his country from 1951-1955 as a member of the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Rigby had been employed for many years as an in-plant printer for Mount Hope Machinery in Taunton and also when the company became Augat. Following retirement, he worked as a custodian at Bank5 in Fall River.
Bob had made his home in Fall River for many years and had also been a resident of Somerset for twenty-five years. He was a communicant of Holy Name Church in Fall River and a former parishioner of Saint John of God Church in Somerset.
Bob’s memberships included the Fall River Elks and the Order of Odd Fellows. When not spending time with his adoring family, he was a passionate bowler and served as an instructor at Holiday Lanes in Westport.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Christopher Rigby and his wife Jean of Westport and Linda Rigby of Swansea. He was the cherished grandfather of Eric Pacheco of Fall River.
Services and burial are private and visiting hours have been omitted.
