Jacqueline “Jackie” Cordeiro Hasday passed away Saturday, April 13th at her home in North Truro surrounded by her loved ones. She has been laid to rest at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Truro.
Jackie was born and raised in Queens, New York. She graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1969 and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. She came to Provincetown in the seventies and made it her forever home. In 1977 she had her one and only beloved son Ethan. Jackie worked for Kaplansky Insurance Agency and retired after 28 years. She loved her community and served as the Treasurer for Truro Treasures for seven years.
Jackie loved crafting and was very creative. She enjoyed making stained glass, jewelry and especially Christmas ornaments with her grandson Logan. She loved going to the beach, watching her grandson play sports. She also enjoyed Jeopardy, although she would tell you she wasn’t very good at it!
Jackie is survived by her devoted husband, best friend and caregiver, Martin Cordeiro. Her son Ethan, his wife Andrea and her beloved grandson Logan also survive her. She also leaves her sister, friend and confidant Marlena Kostak, her nephew Arif Kostak, her loving niece Felicia Bays and great nephew Liam as well as many cousins and great friends that were always there for her especially during her illness.
Jackie has asked that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Silva Ataxia Foundation, c/o Brigham and Women’s Hospital, att: Catherine Young, 116 Huntington Ave, Third Floor, Boston, MA 02116. The foundation was created to advance the research to cure Machado-Joseph Disease which affects her husband’s family.
