Jo-Ann D Rowell, of Lyman
February 23, 1961- April 12, 2019
On Friday April 12, 2019 Jo-Ann D Rowell 58 of Lyman, Maine passed away peacefully in her home. Jo-Ann graciously fought a battle against glioblastoma for a year and half. She lived a life of love, generosity and compassion. Jo-Ann was born in Derby, Conn, daughter of the late Carol Urban and late Clyde Wood. She was a long time employee of HMS Host where she made life long friends. She tended to the accounting duties of the facility. Jo-Ann’s passion and heart was always with her husband of forty-one years, children and grandchildren. She was a very involved Mother and Grandmother as well as a respected friend throughout the Lyman community. Holidays and Birthdays were Jo-Ann’s favorite occasions. She loved to host and entertain family and friends in her home. She was very good at turning an ordinary day into a celebration. Other hobbies include; shopping for bargains, decorating her home for her family to enjoy, sleepovers with her grandchildren, spending Saturday evenings at local bean suppers with her late Father and grandchildren. Jo-Ann was an avid reader and cake baker. She will be fondly remembered for her love of baking and preparing special cakes for family and friends. Jo-Ann was a care giver and took great responsibility in tending to the needs of others’ before her own. Her unwavering sympathetic nature and loving tendencies made everyone feel at home. If you knew Jo-Ann, she instinctively considered you family, no matter the connection. Her love has always shown through in all she did for others’. Jo-Ann selflessly made the choice to donate her brain to science in hopes that one day there may be a cure found for glioblastoma.
Jo-Ann is predeceased by her Father, Clyde Nelson Wood and her Mother, Carol Urban. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Rowell Jr, Daughter, Jennifer Michaud and husband Andrew Michaud, Daughter, Donna Velush and son-in-law, Ronald Velush, Daughter Heather Samuels and husband Coore Samuels, Son, Andrew Rowell and fiancé Connie Norwald.
Jo-Ann is survived by; 12 grandchildren; Jacqueline Rich, Natasha Velush, Tyler Rowell, Devyn Velush, Mariah Michaud, Danielle Velush, Jasmine Michaud, Brayden Rowell, Jacob Michaud, Vincent Velush, Madeline Velush and Mya Rowell, Two great-grandchildren; Ava Nucci-Velush and Paisley Rose Rowell. Jo-Ann leaves behind two sisters and three sister-in-laws; Dorothy Buzzell and husband Harry Buzzell, and sister Cheryl Wood, Theresa Skillings, Lisa Kehling and Louise Ryea and brother-in-law Bryant Rowell. Jo-Ann leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday April 19 from 5-6 PM, followed by a service at 6 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 27, 2019 at the Town of Kennebunk Dorothy E. Stevens Community Center from 4pm-8pm.
The family would like to honor her by offering loved ones and friends a bean supper during the Celebration of Life.
