Obituary

Robert Lee “Bob” Bridwell, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Pruitt Health in Ocilla.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, April 15, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dan Hayes and the Rev. Steve Hood officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Mr. Bridwell was born May 24, 1939, in Sylvester, Georgia, to the late James Monroe & Jo Hemphill Bridwell. After graduating high school, Mr. Bridwell served his country honorably in the United States Army. He moved to the community 48 years ago and was a truck driver for United Farm Tools and Modern Fibers. Mr. Bridwell enjoyed talking and fishing. He also served as his wife’s caregiver for 10 years. He loved his dog “Bear”. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his children: Raymond Watson & Torrie of Fitzgerald, Gary Watson & Wanda of Fitzgerald and Paula Bullington & Ralph of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Ryan Watson & Jennifer, Bryan Watson & Lynn, Kaylan Dekle & Kyle, Kristen Watson, Gary Chambless, and Miranda Bullington; great-grandchildren: Reed Watson, Emily Watson, Brylynn Watson, Harlyn Watson, Karter Dekle, Kade Dekle, Grayson Cooper, Bradley Watts, Payton Watts, Andrew Watts and Orin Chambless; a sister, Benneta Oliver & Curt of Boise, Idaho; and two sisters-in-law: Sharon Pettis of Ocilla and Linda Grimsley of Sylvester. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 ½ years, Marie Grimsley Bridwell; three siblings: Betty, Brenda and Billie Jo; two grandchildren; Brandi Watts and Ralph Bullington, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Betty Grimsley; and three brothers-in-law: Bobby Grimsley, Vernon Pettis and Alan Grimsley.
