Edward (Ted) Nicholas, Adventurer
After joining Pan American Airways in the 1960's, Ted took advantage of his love of travel and adventure. He visited almost every continent and did some of the most interesting and adventuresome things while taking spectacular video. He climbed to Elevation 21,000 feet on Mount Everest, went on African Safaris where he filmed a rhino attack. He rode a camel across Egypt to explore the pyramids and spent 16 days on the Colorado River riding the dangerous and exciting rapids through the Grand Canyon. He is well known within family circles for showing video and telling his adventuresome tales. The gifts he brought home were always memorable, and some given to his young nephews and nieces may have been too dangerous for their age, but they sure loved them.
Ted was a 1955 graduate of North Quincy High School and shortly thereafter served four years in the Marine Corps where his love for travel began. He often reminisced that his fourteen month peace time duty in Japan was one of the most enjoyable times of his life. After returning to the States, he received an Associates degree in Aircraft Technology at Boston University. He ended his career at Delta Airlines. He was a lifelong resident of Quincy, MA.
