Maria Casamassima of Medford died on Saturday, April 6, at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center. Born and raised in Cassano, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Caterina Pichichero. Maria came to the U.S. in 1966, settling first in Allston before moving to Medford in 1988. She loved to cook and to shop, and always valued "Quality."
Maria was the beloved wife of the late Domenico Casamassima. She was the devoted mother of Francesco Casamassima and his wife Maria of Wakefield, and the late Lorenzo Casamassima and his surviving wife Rita of Wakefield, Mario Casamassina and his partner Denise Hajjar of Quincy, Maria Cavicchi and her husband Peter of Northboro, Vincenzo Casamassima and his wife Susan of Medford. She was the loving grandmother of Domenico Casamassima, Carla Desiderio, Bianca Pasciuto, Claudia Siepka, Milena and Eliana Casamassima, Lauren and Michael Cavicchi, Isabella, Nico and Rocco Casamassima. Maria was the loving great grandmother of Viviana Desiderio, and Alexandra and Nicolas Casamassima, Stella and Sophie Pasciuto, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday, April 11 at 8:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday, April 10 from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
