CHICOPEE – Loretta I. (Fontaine) Boucher L’Abbee, 101, a longtime resident of the Willimansett section of Chicopee and a former resident of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Monday, April 1, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at the Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home on Chicopee Street in Willimansett on September 12, 1917, a beloved daughter of the late Alfred and Emma (Blain) Fontaine. She was raised in Willimansett, graduated in 1925 from Chicopee High School and lived in Chicopee for many years before moving to South Hadley in 1978. She was last employed as a banquet waitress at the former Schine Inn and the Highpoint Motor Lodge, both in Chicopee. She was a communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett where she was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality of the Church. She was last a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in South Hadley Falls. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husbands, Lionel E. Boucher who was Called Home on July 29, 1962 and Douglas G. L’Abbee who was Called Home on April 9, 2004. She leaves her two loving children, Alice L. Giguere and her husband, Joseph “Moe” Giguere, and David L. Boucher and his wife, Cheryl G. Boucher, all of Chicopee; her seven cherished grandchildren, Joseph Giguere and his wife, Lisa, Thomas Giguere and his wife, Phyllis, James Giguere and his wife, Pamela, Aimee Fucci and her husband, Dr. Michael Fucci, Adam Boucher and his wife, Sara, Katie Boucher and her fiancé, Emilio Dones, and Cynthia LaFromboise; her many cherished great-grandchildren; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the L’Abbee, Boucher and Fontaine families. Besides her parents and husbands, she was also predeceased by her loving son, Gerald P. Boucher who was Called Home on December 2, 1984; and her dear brother and sister-in-law, Charles Fontaine and his wife, Edna. Her family would like to thank her caregivers from Landmark at Monastery Heights, Morningstar Unit in West Springfield and the staff at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center for their wonderful care and compassion. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute/The Jimmy Fund, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168 or to the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., 2121 K Street NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20037.
