Eugenio Manuel Ramos “Padjen, vovodjen and djen” was born in March 21, 1935 in the island of Sao Nicolau, Cabo Verde. Son of Pedro Ramos e Antonia Gomes and both parents were from Sao Nicolau as well. He lost his father on his early childhood and that contributed for him to become very responsible child. He worked so hard because he wanted a better live for his family.
In 1962, he was able to immigrate looking for a better life. He worked as merchant marine, Even though, he spent most of his time on the ocean and he went to many countries. He always had the love for his homeland, therefore he always went back home for vacation.
Life was never easy for him but he was a very tenacious person, who believed there were no obstacles that would stop him from achieving his plans. He strongly believed that there is a solution to all problems. Due to his determination, he was able to achieve many goals.
When he was 35 year old he got married with Maria Soares Ramos. They decided to establish their residence in the Island of Sao Vicente. He had 8 children; 5 sons and 3 daughters, 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was so happy to see the family growing so quickly.
After the birth of his 7th child, he decided that would be best for him to retire from merchant marine in order to spend more time with his children. So, he became a business man. He invested in real estate and retail. He was a type of man, who were not able to stay still. He always found new projects to focus on.
One of his main philosophies was that one must help whoever is in need. Throughout his life, he has helped many people from immediate family to total strangers. However, he never expected anything in return.
He believed in reincarnation. On March 31, 2019, he departed this world only to begin new journey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday from 5-8 PM, at the Joseph Russo Funeral Home, 814 American Legion Highway, Roslindale. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday April 6, 2019 from 10-12 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery Roslindale.
