Roger Greenough 86, of Abington, MA passed away peacefully on April 4, 2019, surrounded by family.
Roger was born on March 23, 1933, in Gardner, MA. Roger, a Korean War veteran, joined the Air Force following his 1952 Abington High graduation. Roger retired as Abington’s Superintendent of Postal Operations after 37 years of postal service. Following his postal retirement, Roger worked at the Ridder Golf Course Pro Shop for 12 1/2 years. He attended Newbury Jr. College, where he majored in business.
Roger was passionate about family, including his puppies. Roger loved spending time in Maine where he enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing and boating with his family and friends. Roger, who loved gardening, annually planted a huge garden and shared the fruits of his labor with friends and family throughout the area. He was also an avid golfer.
Roger was the beloved husband of Shirley A. (Smith) for 55 years. He was the brother of the late Robert Greenough and brother-in-law of Ruth Skinner. Roger was the loving father of Bill Dodge and wife Lisa, Mary Delory Haas and husband Terry, Dorothy Lemieux and husband David, John Dodge and wife Kieran, Kevin Greenough and Angel, Daniel Greenough and wife Bridie. Additionally, Roger was grandfather to 16 grandchildren, including the late Daniel Helms, 11 great-grandchildren and god-father to Molly Ann and Abigail Rose Greenough.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Roger’s Funeral Service on Monday, April, 8th at 7 p.m. at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, MA 02382. A private burial will take place at a later date. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.
