Mary Jane (Beidelschies) Davis, 87, of Fairhaven, formerly of Dartmouth, died Saturday December 31, 2005 at Alden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Clifford Sumner Davis, Jr.
Born and raised in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harry and Ethel Hope (Justus) Beidelschies, she lived in Swansea before moving to Dartmouth in 1962.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Faiarhaven.
Mrs. Davis was a registered nurse in the U.S. Navy Nurses Corps serving aboard Navy hospital ships during the Korean War, until her retirement as Lieutenant Commander.
She was a member of the Retired Navy Nurses Association. She was a graduate of Grant Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan E. Oliveira of New Bedford; a son, Paul C. Davis of Hollis, N.H.; a brother; Allen Beidelschies of Ohio; a sister, Ann Binau of Ohio; two grandchildren, Nicole Oliveira and Sean P. Davis; a great-granddaughter, Kaia Monteiro; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late John Beidelschies, Paul Beidelschies, Robert Beidelschies, Russell Beidelschies, Donna Ruth Schoenberger, and Leah Comstock.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday Jan. 7, 2006 at 3 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Her family will receive visitors prior to the service from 1-3 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 Temple Place, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
