Alfred Sparks, 84, of Tifton passed away Monday, April 1, 2019, at Navicent Health in Macon. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Sparks at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Jay Kimbro and the Rev. Terrell Roberts will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 4, 2019, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born October 13, 1934 in Bulloch County, Mr. Sparks was the son of the late C. B. Sparks and Bessie Aileen Wood Sparks. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Lou Sparks Buckner; and one step-daughter, Debbie Cox Hand. Before retiring, he worked as a security officer for the State of Florida and he was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Tifton. He also was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Sparks is survived by his wife, Emma “Jean” Whitley Cox Sparks of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Leslie Sparks of Tallahassee, Florida; two step-sons and their wives, Dale and Nada Cox of Moultrie and Tony Cox of Omega; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Brent and Christie Cox, Haley Hand Peak and Nick Peak, Jason and Sara Hand, Erin Cox, Ross and Laura Cox, Grant Sloan, Jon-Rolfe and Erin Sparks, Wes Cox and fiance’ Olivia, Megan Sloan and fiance’ Steven, and Maggie Sparks; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
