Silvana (Freitas) Pacheco, 89, of New Bedford died peacefully Friday, March 29, 2019 at CareOne at New Bedford surrounded by her loving family after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Joaquim C. "Jack" Pacheco.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Manuel and Gertrude (Coelho) Freitas, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Pacheco was a communicant of St. James Church.
She was formerly employed by Berkshire Hathaway for 38 years until her retirement. She was later employed for 6 years at the coffee shop at St. Luke's Hospital.
Mrs. Pacheco was a former member of the Ladies Guild of St. James and a former member of St. Luke's Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed gardening, going to Foxwoods, traveling, saying the Rosary and spending time with her loving family.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Anne Pavao and her husband Edward of New Bedford and Jacqueline M. Faulkner and her husband Mark of Lakeville; five grandchildren, Kimberly Calheta and her husband Derek, Timothy Pavao and his wife Jenniffer, Kristen Dufault and her husband Nathan, and Mark and Heather Faulkner; seven great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Kaylee, Lucas, and Brooke Pavao, Julianna and Kacie Calheta, and Michael Dufault; her brother Manual Freitas; two sisters, Lilian Pereira and Eva Wood; her Godchildren, Michael Wood and Lynn Paul; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Antone, Joseph, Maria, and Louis Freitas, Georgianna Paiva, Gloria and Theresa Correia, and Alice Diniz.
Mrs. Pacheco's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at CareOne for the care and compassion shown to her during her time there.
Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 7:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 8:30 AM.
