EAST BALDWIN & CASCO- Malcolm Russell Hoyt, age 77, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 29, 2019 at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Portland on January 6, 1942, a child of the late Russell and Eva (Wood) Hoyt. He was educated in Baldwin Schools and has lived in Baldwin his whole life.
Malcolm served his country in the US Army in the Vietnam War.
He worked in the former Kezar Falls Woolen Mill and later worked for Maine DOT on the road and bridge crew and retired after 25 years of service.
Malcolm enjoyed traveling with his camper truck and took several long trips, including a trip to CA and AZ to visit cousins. He also enjoyed traveling in the south to attend country western shows in the TN area.
Family was very important to him. He enjoyed family gatherings and seeing his cousins.
He was a member of the Golden Wings motorcycle club and traveled with them on many trips.
He was also a member of the Baldwin Snowmobile Club and the East Baldwin Congregational Church.
In 2012, he moved to Country Village Assisted Living in Casco. Upon moving, he became a member of the Casco Church. His stay at Country Village Assisted Living was wonderful – he had super care. Staff members such as Heather and Biney were very special people who cared for him.
He is survived by his sister- Hilda Edwards and her husband Alan; a nice- Julie Harris; and nephew- Scott Edwards.
A private graveside service will be held at Steep Falls Cemetery at a later date.
