Frances “Jeanette” Bentley Baker, 76, of Tifton passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Grace Manor in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. W. E. Fogarty officiating. Ms. Baker will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, April 1, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Robert Baker, Daryl Baker, Mack MacFadden, Chris Broxson, Tonya Gail Dillard, Sue Hurtado, Danny Gay Sr. and Aubrey Gay Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
Born April 30, 1942 in Tift County, Ms. Baker was the daughter of the late James William Bentley and Hattie Mae Day Bentley. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil “Buford” Bentley, J. W. Bentley and Eugene Bentley. Before retiring, she worked as a waitress at the Smorgasbord, Western Sizzlin’ and the Alpine. She was a member of Tift Avenue Missionary Baptist Church and she loved God; she loved people; and she loved flowers.
Ms. Baker is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Willie Lee and Jean Baker of Sycamore; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Faye and Pete Woodard and Annie Ruth Gay, both of Tifton; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Robert Baker, Nick Hobbs, Daryl Baker, Shon and Tessa Dillard, Josh and Courtney Butler, Summer Baker and Tonya Gail Dillard; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
