Obituary

STAUNTON, Celia A. (Glynn) of West Roxbury died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 28, 2019. She was born in Bengarra, Athenry County Galway on November 26, 1944 the daughter of the late Michael and Delia (Gannon) Glynn. She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Sean Staunton. Cherished mother of Ann Marie Staunton and her husband Derek Clark of West Roxbury. Devoted “Nana” of Michael and Celia Clark. She is also survived by her four brothers: Patrick Glynn and wife Margaret of Norwood; Michael Glynn and wife Kathleen of Roslindale; Joseph Glynn and partner Irene Murphy and Gerry Glynn and wife Mary all of Athenry, Ireland and three sisters: Mary McLaughlin and her late husband Joe of Marblehead, MA; Nonie Tuohy and husband Anthony of Athenry, Ireland; and the late Bernadette Shields. She was the sister-in-law of Jack Shields of Maine. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Celia also leaves her dedicated loving companion Lucy. Mrs. Staunton moved from Athenry to Boston at the age of 15. She worked for many years as a hairdresser and later as a caretaker for the elderly in the West Roxbury area. For 18 years Celia prepared meals for students at the Noble Greenough School in Dedham. She was a longtime member of the Irish Social Club of Boston. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, WEST ROXBURY on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 10 o’clock. Visiting hours Tuesday, April 2nd from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
