William James “Bill” Skinner, 90 years old, of Camarillo, California passed away on March 27, 2019 at his home in Camarillo with his devoted wife Carolyn, and his daughter, Barbara by his side. Bill was born in Florence, South Carolina on March 18, 1929.
Bill is a one of our many veterans who served in the Army. While in Washington, DC, Bill met the love of his life, Carolyn Joan, at a dance. They danced together the rest of their lives. After the Army, Bill worked in construction and eventually had his own company. He was known for his expert work. He participated in the renovations of several buildings in Ventura County throughout the years.
Bill’s favorite pastime was fishing. According to Carolyn, he would “fish and fish and fish and then play a little pool”. He raised his daughters on the sea fishing as often as possible. When the grandchildren started to arrive, he was excited to introduce deep sea fishing to his grandsons. That joy of fishing has reached down through the generations.
He also loved In ‘N’ Out hamburgers, but always gave Carolyn his french fries.
Bill was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He enjoyed doing genealogy work in the Los Angeles Temple.
Bill is survived by his wife, Carolyn Joan Skinner of Camarillo. He has one surviving daughter, Barbara and husband David. He has 13 grandchildren: Christopher and wife Lisa, Johnny, Aimee Joe, Julie and husband Brian, Donny and wife Darakae, Lisa and husband Manderson, Tara and husband Joshua, Sandra, Monique, Tiffany and husband Nick, Robert, Sarah and Phillip and 17 great grandchildren
Three daughters and one son preceded Bill in death: Debbie, Carol, Holly, and William James Jr.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 4345 Las Posas Rd, Camarillo, CA on Saturday, April 13. Viewing is at 10:00 AM and the Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM.
