Carol A. (McElroy) (Russo) D’Amico, age 74, of Brockton, died peacefully, March 26, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a period of failing health. Carol was the devoted wife of the late Leonard A. D’Amico, (Ret BFD). Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Evelyn (Scott) McElroy. She was raised and educated in Dorchester and moved to Brockton at the age of 27.
Prior to raising her family, Carol received her barber’s license which she maintained throughout her lifetime.
She later worked as a Home Health Aide in Brockton for ten years. Carol was a caring, generous and compassionate woman with a great sense of humor that was dedicated to her family. Her hobbies included dancing, listening to music and reading.
Carol was the mother of Cheryl Silver of Hampton, NH and Mark Russo of Brockton, stepmother of Janet Heslen of Plymouth; grandmother of Anthony Russo and Victoria Silver, sister of Daniel McElroy of Raynham and the late Patricia Packard and Louise Slatterly. She is also survived by her brother in law Jack Alaimo of Raynham and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 9-10am, followed by a funeral service at 10am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Donations in Carol’s name may be made to the Boston Fire Department Relief Fund, 115 Southampton Street, Boston, MA 02118.
