Jeannette Strohmer, 90, of Ellicott City passed away peacefully on March 25, 2019 surrounded by family. She was born on January 15, 1929 to Paul and Agnes Adamecz in Baltimore. Growing up on Bernice Avenue in Baltimore, Jeannette graduated from Seton High School and was employed by the Motor Sales Company. She married Russell Strohmer in 1949 and together they raised a family of seven children. The family lived in Catonsville for 25 years, then moved to Ellicott City.
Her part-time job in high school at a local bakery led to her being an avid baker at home. Her family relished her peach cakes, and her crumb cakes were always a huge success at many church bake sales. Jeannette’s love of books spread to her children who are avid readers. She was an active member of the St. Joseph’s Monastery parish and served as president of the Mother’s Club and voted Mother of the year. Jeannette’s extensive collection of Nativity sets were her pride and joy during the Christmas season.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, her eight siblings and her daughter Donna Morar. She is survived by Russ, her husband of 70 years, her children, Mary Theresa Shoemaker and husband Dave, Bill Strohmer and wife Lenda, Cheryl Fosbrink and husband Tim, Robert Strohmer and Keri Todd, Agnes Wronka and husband Tom, and Craig Strohmer. Also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Friends may call at THE HUBBARD FUNERAL HOME, INC., 4107 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21229, on Wednesday, March 27th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. All are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Thursday, March 28th, at 12:30 P.M. in The Church of the Resurrection, Chapel. Interment in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers it was Jeannette’s and the family request for donations in her memory to The Church of the Resurrection St. Vincent de Paul Society, 3175 Paulskirk Drive, Ellicott City, MD 21042.
