Madlen Lynell "Nanny" Barnes Banks, 77, of Sycamore passed away Monday, March 25, 2019 at her residence.
Madlen was born on January 9, 1942 in Alma, Georgia to the late Clifford Lawrence and Alline Carter Barnes. She was affectionately known as Nanny to everyone and had a deep passion for loving and caring for her family. She was an Elvis Presley fanatic and loved watching the Georgia Bulldogs and fishing. She was a faithful member of Christian Union Church of God.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa G. White of Hannibal, Missouri and Recinda J. Hinds of Brunswick; sons, Robert M. (Cindy) Kennison of Sycamore, David K. (Andrea) Kennison of Naples, Florida and Thomas A. (Mary) Kennison of Claxton;sisters, Maggie B. (Raynell) Lee of Waycross, Vera E. Albritton of Hoboken, Patricia J. (Billy) Norton of Waynesville and Janet M. (Edsel) McCarty of Meridian; brother, James Robert (Barbara) Barnes of Uvalda. She is also survived by her "bonus children", Darrell F. (Heather) McMahan, Crystal G. (Jerry) Collins, Carolyn L. (Bryan) Baker, Charles D. McMahan and Emily M. Wyrick, seventeen grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Quitman "Pete" Banks; sons, Glynn "Butch" Kennison, Jr. and Steven A. Kennison; granddaughter, Susan A. Saylor; brother, Clifford L. Barnes, Jr.; brother-in-law, Lester Albritton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 29, 2019 at Christian Union Church of God with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends Thursday, March 28, 2019 beginning at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Perry Funeral Chapel and Friday, March 29, 2019 at Christian Union Church of God from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
