Lillian Ann Hopson, 81, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, March 22, 2019, at her daughter’s residence in Barnwell, South Carolina.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Monday, March 25, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Dewain Joiner and Rev. Josh Bowles officiating. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon, from 2 PM until 4 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Ms. Hopson was born April 24, 1937, in Key West, Florida to the late Eugene Dryden Thrower & Gladys Lillian Carey Thrower. She moved to the community over 36 years ago from Melborne, Florida and was a former employee of Deep South. She loved her church, reading Christian books, crossword puzzles, singing gospel music but most of all she loved her great-grandchildren. Ms. Hopson was a member of the Fitzgerald Church of God.
She is survived by her children: James Monroe Smith, Jr. of Los Angeles, California, Gayle Marie Wilson of Barnwell, South Carolina and Martin Shaughnessy of Fitzgerald; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and a brother Donald Eugene Thrower of Phenix City, Alabama. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Bry Smith and a son-in-law, David Wilson.
