Obituary

Lucy Nell Black Ford, 65, of Tifton passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Tifton Health and Rehab. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating. Ms. Ford will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Allen Owens Jr., Michael Owens, Jon Luke Owens, Billie Joe Rathburn, Lance Jackson and Vanessa Stinchcomb will serve as pallbearers.

Born April 23, 1953 in Ocilla, Ms. Ford was the daughter of the late Columbus Howard Black and Bernice Moody Black. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Black, Randy Black and Curtis Lee Black; and one sister, Dinah Marie Black. Before becoming disabled, she was previously the housekeeping supervisor at Masters Inn and Hampton Inn in Tifton and Sweetwater Homes in Ocilla. She lived over 25 years on Fletcher Road in Tifton before moving to Tift Towers in Tifton, where she resided until she became ill and moved to Tifton Health and Rehab, where she passed away. She was a member of Tift Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, where she loved to go to sing and worship her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ms. Ford is survived by her daughter, Regina Ford Jackson and her husband, Steven Jackson; one granddaughter, Amanda Ford Goggans and her husband, Jake Goggans; a step-granddaughter, Lechia Ford Owens and her husband, Allen Wayne Owens, Jr.; several other step-children and step-grandchildren; her sisters and their spouses, Patricia and Allen Owens, Emma Jean Bundrick, Darnell Sumner, Annie Sue and Billie Joe Rathburn, Sheila Hall and Sara Day; and one brother and his wife, Charles and Faith Black.
