John “Jack” R. Amiro, age 83, of Brockton, died on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Brockton Hospital after a period of failing health. John was born in Lewiston, Maine and was raised in Hull, a son of the late Jerome and Eileen (Cotter) Amiro. He had served in the Air Force during the Korean War and had worked as a foreman for the Mass DPW for many years. John enjoyed wood working, camping and working with statistics.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, April L. (Eastman) Amiro, a son James Amiro of Carver; his stepchildren, Mary Walcott of Brockton and Willard “Bill” Jorritsma; seven grandchildren, Lisa and Stephen Walcott, Katie and Kelly MacLean and James, Jessica and Nicole Jorritsma and five great grandchildren. He was the stepfather of the late Cindi MacLean and brother of the late Joan Cummings.
Burial will be held in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at a later date.
