Roger M. Guilmette, 72, of Gorham, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at his home after a short illness. He was born in Berlin on January 6, 1947 the son of the late Philip and Emily (Germaine) Guilmette and was a lifelong resident of the area. He had been employed by the Town of Gorham Public Works Department for 32 years and as a fireman and auxiliary policeman. He was a US Army Veteran. Roger was one of the founding fathers of the Gorham Fireman’s Association. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed snowmobliling and loved his camp, “Hogan’s Hideaway”. He was a member of Holy Family Church, the Presidential Range Riders Snowmobile Club and the Dupont-Holmes Post #82 American Legion.
Family includes his wife Lucille (LaPlante) Guilmette of Gorham; his son Jay Guilmette of Gorham; daughter Trishia Guilmette of Whitefield; grandchildren Zachary Farrer, Hunter Buteau, Jordan Guilmette and Kasey Guilmette; great-granddaughter Brynlee Farrar; sister Susan Garringer of Houlton, ME; sister-in-law Louise Tyler of Gorham; brother in law Fred Gilbert of Gorham; nieces and nephews and a special friend, Ronald Smith of Gorham. He was predeceased by an infant son, Jason Guilmette,, and brothers James Tyler and Ronald Guilmette and a sister Shirley Gilbert.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning March 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade St., Gorham. Interment will be in the Lary Cemetery in the spring.
