EAST TAUNTON - Joan (Amaral) Arruda, 63, residence 27 Sagamore Rd. East Taunton, formerly of 696 Hood St. Fall River, died saturday in East Taunton at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of Thomas Arruda. Besides her Husband of East Taunton, she is survived by: 2 Sons: Jeffrey Arruda of Fall River and Michael Arruda of Fall River, 3 Daughters: Kimberly Ayala of East Taunton, Joanne Arruda of Fall River, Kelly Santos of New Bedford, 4 Grandchildren: Jeffrey Arruda, Thomas & Alexandria Ayala, Sydney Santos, and 3 Nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph “Ricky” Amaral.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Joseph Amaral and the late Phoebe (Felix) Amaral. She had been a lifelong resident of Fall River. She was a 1960 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School. Before retiring, she had worked 27 years for the Fall River School Dept in the Special Needs Dept. as a Clerk and Stenographer. She was a member of Holy Name Church. She was very active with & enjoyed her grandchildren. She collected Dolls & enjoyed dining out & travel.
Her Funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 North Main Street on Thursday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Name Church, Hanover St. Fall River at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling Hours Wednesday, Jan.4, 2006 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
