Obituary

Basil “Bill” Stratis Moskos of Brookline, passed away on March 17, 2019 after a lengthy illness.

The loving son of Greek immigrants, he grew up helping his father run the popular Moskos Restaurant in Allston. Bill graduated from Boston Latin School in 1957 and went on to study at Northeastern University where he was a member of the ROTC. He graduated from Columbia University with his MBA. Bill was a member of the armed forces, a captain in the US Army signal corps, and served for six years during the Vietnam War.

A lifetime ice cream aficionado, Bill owned a small local chain of ice cream parlors in Newton and Brookline in the 1970s called The Ice Cream Factory. Bill enjoyed game nights with a close group of friends and was a founding member of the still-active Parkway Croquet League in West Roxbury.

He is survived by his beloved wife Gloria of West Roxbury, his daughter Alyssa Haggerty and her husband Joseph Haggerty of Newton, his son Alexander Moskos and wife Jenessa Grant-Moskos of Holliston and his two grand-children Finnegan and Zoe Haggerty. 

Visiting hours at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown St., WESTON, Thursday, Mar. 21, from 9-10am followed by a funeral service beginning at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Walnut Hills Cemetery, Brookline.
