CHICOPEE ~ Henry H. “Hank” DeJordy, 83, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Oxford, MA on August 14, 1935, a beloved son of the late Alphonse H. and Edith M. (Austin) DeJordy. He was raised in Chicopee, attended Saint Joan of Arc Elementary School in Chicopee and Saint Jerome’s High School in Holyoke, and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He began his career as a heavy equipment operator with the Local 98 International Union of Operating Engineers in Springfield. He later went on to own and operate his own building and contracting businesses including Enrico Equipment and H.H. DeJordy & Sons Construction. Most recently, he owned and operated Atlas Builders & Contractors, Inc. in Chicopee. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church and a member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus and the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849, all in Chicopee. During his younger years, he built and raced stock cars at the former Riverside Park in Agawam. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid NASCAR fan. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Josephine V. “Josie” (Vielleux) DeJordy. They were married on June 13, 1953 at the former Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 65 years of happiness together. He also leaves his loving children, Diane L. Roundy and her husband, David Roundy, Jr., of Rainbow City, AL, and Daryl D. DeJordy of Chicopee; his 14 cherished grandchildren and many cherished great-grandchildren; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the DeJordy and Vielleux families. His funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of his family.
