Obituary

SALEM- Matilda B. “Marge” (Nowak) Kowalski, 83, wife of William W. “Bill” Kowalski, of Salem, died Saturday, November 17, 2001 in the Salem Hospital following a long illness.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Tekla (Kusiak) Nowak.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Unitrode in Salem. She previously worked for Sylvania at the Boston Street, Salem plant.

A lifelong resident of Salem, she attended St John the Baptist School, was a graduate of Salem High School and was a lifelong parishioner of the St John The Baptist Church, Salem.

Besides her husband, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage, she is survived by one son, William W. Kowalski Jr., of Salem, one daughter and son-in-law, Julie and James Whalen of Oceanside, New York, one grandchild, Elizabeth Whalen of Oceanside, NY, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Dr. Joseph Nowak, Anthony Nowak, John Nowak, Josephine Bowers Caron, Helen Nash and Anna Nowak.

Her funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at 8 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 am at the St John The Baptist Church, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in St Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
