Demilia M. (Traquina) Rodrigues, age 102, passed away on March 9, 2019 at Mount St Vincent Nursing Home. She was born on June 21, 1916 in Portugal, a daughter of the late Valerian and Emelia (Dos Santos) Traquina. She worked as a seamstress and sewing machine operator for Chicopee Undergarment for many years until she retired. Demilia was a founding member of the Chicopee Portuguese American Club and former treasurer of the club as well. She is predeceased by her husband Ramiro Rodrigues who passed away in 2000 and also by her two brothers Joaquim “Jack” Traquina and Jose “Joe” Traquina. She is survived by her daughter Lucinda Gallela of Chicopee; a sister-in-law Maria Carlos of Chicopee and a grandson Anthony J. Gallela and his wife Nicole along with many nieces and nephews. Calling hour will be held on the morning of the funeral Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Grise` Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee followed by Funeral Home Prayer Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in St Aloysius Cemetery.
