DARTMOUTH — Thomas F. Kenney died peacefully at his home in South Dartmouth on March 7th. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Ann Moreau Teves Kenney; three children: Thomas Jr (Eliaichi) and Deirdre Quarnstrom (Eric) of Seattle, and Leah Kenney Pessolano (Mark) of E. Longmeadow MA; and his adored grandchildren: Lucia, Amelia, Maeve, Kendall, Deirdre, Lucas and Anthony Thomas.
Tom was born in Boston to Emily Duran Hall and David J. Kenney. He was the youngest brother to David Kenney (d. 2018), Paul Kenney (Sanchen) of Weymouth and Emily McHugh of Newton. Tom attended Boston Latin and graduated from Dorchester High in 1963. He received his BS and MBA from Northeastern University and attended the 100th class of the Harvard University AMP. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard and worked at Boston Gas Company for 21 years rising to Vice President. He then became a Vice President at Berkshire Gas before starting a consulting business, Human Resource Advisors.
Tom enjoyed his family and Friends old and new, and of course his favorite sports, skiing and sailing. He was a member of SHRM, the New Bedford Yacht Club, the Harvard Business School Alumni Association and the 306 Club of Dorchester. He served on the Salvation Army Board in Boston and Pittsfield and the Board for the Tufts Associated Health Plan. Tom chaired and was the “go to” person for the Stonehorse Builder’s Cup Regatta held every August in Buzzards Bay.
Calling hours will be Monday, March 11 from 4:30-7:30pm at Wilson Funeral Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10am at Grace Episcopal Church in New Bedford. Funeral parking is available at the Wamsutta Club at 427 County St.
In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to The Grace Church Scholarship Fund. The family wishes to thank St. Anne’s Oncology and The Community Nurse Association for their assistance during Tom’s illness.
