Obituary

Henry E. "Skippy" Gordon, 90, of Fairhaven died March 7, 2019 peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of Melba (Costa) Gordon.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Henry J. and Bertha (St. Onge) Gordon, he lived in Fairhaven most of his life.
He was formerly employed by Continental Screw, Morse Twist Drill and Medeiros Bus Company for many years. He and his wife later opened Skip & Mel's in Acushnet.
Skippy was an avid Patriots, Celtics and Red Sox fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going for drives with his beloved wife Melba and his dog Max.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven A. Gordon and his wife Jill of Acushnet; 2 daughters, Kathleen M. Smith and her husband Tom of Foster, RI and Lisa A. Gordon and her spouse Julie Ozaydin of Bolton; a brother, Paul Gordon of Fairhaven; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie R. St. Onge, Scott R. Gordon, Erin B. Hobbs, Brooke A. Fatula, Victoria L. Breitbach, Lily M. Smith and Henry I. Gordon-Ozaydin; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Gary P. Gordon.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 11th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Rt. 6, Mattapoisett, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 10th from 3-7 PM.
