Donald Joseph Denoncourt, age 92, passed away Wed., March 6, 2019, 5 years and 2 days after his wife Alice passed on. He was born in Chicopee, MA June 4, 1926, the 2nd child of the late Alpha and Lucienne (Lapierre) Denoncourt. He was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. Donald attended Assumption Grammar School and Chicopee Trade School. He started work at the Springfield Armory at age 16, then at Spaulding’s in Chicopee and finally at Eastern Etching in Chicopee as a lithographer. He retired from these after 40 years in 1991. He met his wife Alice at the Armory and they married on June 28, 1947, sharing 66 years together until her death in March of 2014. Donald was active in his church as a choir member, adult altar server and member of the former League of the Sacred Heart. He was an avid bowler and belonged to as many as 3 leagues at one time. Besides his parents and Alice, he was predeceased by 7 of his 9 siblings. He leaves his children, Diane Pronovost (David) of West Springfield, Pauline Tudryn (Thomas) of Chicopee, Roger (Ann Marie Messier) of North Carolina, Thomas (Marquita Maheur) of Chicopee and Gail Salvador (Ricardo) also of Chicopee. He also leaves 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren plus 1 brother Jean Paul Denoncourt and several sisters-in-law. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tues. March 12, 2019 at 9:30 AM in Assumption Church. Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation in the church from 8:30 AM until the time of Mass. Burial will be private.
